We’ve had snow and freezing temperatures for three weeks now, but the chickens don’t seem to have noticed. They’re lucky: they’re not the ones that have to head out with a kettle to defrost their waterer.

Floods

February 10, 2009

A bit of a disaster last night: we got a month’s rain in 12 hours. You can imagine what that does. The nature reserve is completely flooded, about half of the allotment plots are gone, and the river has comprehensively burst its banks. The water is steadily creeping up towards us, and the chickens have spent their day in the greenhouse, where they can dry their feet and perch on the potting bench.
