The strawberries have been our big success story this summer. Surprising, really, as they have been a dead loss in years gone by.
The strawberry patch looks like it’s going to provide us with a bumper crop this year. It’s a happy accident that we left them in the plot all winter, as we really did think that the frost and ice had killed them off.
After a disappointing strawberry crop last year we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some bumper pickings this year as the plants have survived the winter and now seem to be thriving.
Something is eating the best strawberries, and it certainly isn’t us. To be honest, I’m quite at a loss to explain what it is. I don’t think it’s slugs or snails, as there is no sign of either anywhere in the plot, and I’ve been using an organic killer to keep them away.
