Our raspberry plants have been in need of attention for a few weeks, so we headed out with the secateurs to prune them, and with three brand new canes to replace some of the weaker plants that hadn’t taken last summer.

Yum yum. The first raspberries are ready for eating. Perfect timing, really, as the strawberries have now all been picked and eaten.
Raspberries take up considerable space when they get growing, as last year’s canes are starting to prove now that they’ve begun growing new foliage for this season.
The raspberry canes have finally arrived. And not a moment too soon, either. They were scheduled to turn up somewhere in the ludicrously wide window of ‘November to March’, and with March quickly running out I was having doubts that’s ever be delivered.
Autumn is well and truly over, and it’s time to start tidying up the fruit beds. Most specifically, the currant bushes.
