We pickled enough onions to fill two jars in the end. That was the good bit. What wasn’t quite so good was the fact that one of the jars leaked, so it wasn’t airtight.
With summer coming to an end, we have pulled our onions out of the plot. Although some are small, they are well matured, with satisfying brown papery skins.
Has a day of sun and singing birds lured us into a false sense of security? We put our first seeds into the plot this morning, just before the wind and hail returned.
