With summer coming to an end, we have pulled our onions out of the plot. Although some are small, they are well matured, with satisfying brown papery skins.
With the family coming around for the weekend, we wanted to feed them as much as possible using produce from the garden. Clearly a big salad was called for.
Our first onion was a tasty base of a hearty meal, but what appeared to be a monster when still in the soil was only half the size we’d expected when we started slicing it up.
