We’ve left it a long time to clean out the greenhouse after the end of the last growing season. Having now put all the dead tomato vines in the compost bin and recycled the compost into the plot, though, it feels good to know that it’s done.

The greenhouse was such a mess that we were literally climbing in and out. A few hours of tidying, though, has not only made access easier, but turned up untold treasures, too.
After three days of using the greenhouse heater we are already seeing results. We’re pleasantly surprised at how cheap it is to run, too… if you follow the instructions.
It may now – technically – be summer time, but the cold nights are still with us which means that with the main planting season underway we’ve invested in a paraffin heater.
This week’s heavy snow could have caused some serious damage to the greenhouse, had we not gone out to clear it down.
