Clearing out the end of the plot saw us haul a massive harvest of carrots, which will be shared between us and the chickens. Even those ones we don’t eat ourselves are beneficial, though.
We’ve just pulled up the biggest carrot we’ve ever grown. A whopped the size of a cat’s leg, it’s heavy, straight, bulky and free of nibbles from the slugs and worms.
We are enjoying a bumper harvest of carrots this year. The other morning we dug up almost a kilo of them from the frosty ground, which came up in great icy clumps.
