<p>The strawberry patch looks like it&#8217;s going to provide us with a bumper crop this year. It&#8217;s a happy accident that we left them in the plot all winter, as we really did think that the frost and ice had killed them off.</p>
<p>When we had friends around for the weekend last month I was really quite ashamed of the tatty brown leaves and runners, but with a bit of sun and warm weather they&#8217;ve sprung into life.</p>
<p>Now the plants themselves are about a foot tall, and they have bushed out to fill the patch with no sign of any visible soil between them.</p>
<p>The best thing, though, is the number of fruits they have on the go, and their size. They&#8217;re all still green, of course, but there if they all ripen up are some great smoothies and desserts on the way.</p>
