Rather exciting: the seeds we’ll be planting this year have arrived. Not quite all of them – the seed potatoes still aren’t here and neither are the small fruit bushes that will replace the trees in our outside pots – but it’s a start.
The potatoes’ absence is a bit of a worry, really, as we need to get them chitting in the next couple of weeks so they’re ready for planting.
Other than that, though, we can now sit back and wait until next month before we need to plant the first of these crops, either under glass in the greenhouse or on the kitchen windowsill.
I feel like spring might finally be on the way now.

Hi John. The BBC’s Dig In pages are here. Good luck with your order, and happy growing. Nik
please could you tell me when this years free seeds are available
Hi I followed the link above posted in response to John Le Bas’s comment. Sorry still couldn’t find it
Hi Chris. The BBC’s seed ordering service is not yet open. However, if you follow the link to the BBC Dig In pages, above, you will find a box on the right hand side that says ‘Send off for your seeds – coming soon’. Keep an eye on this so you can get on the list. Demand last year was very high, so you’ll have to get in quick.

THANKYOU
ANN
Hi Ann. As stated above, the free Dig In seeds are available from the BBC when registration opens. Registration is not yet open, but you will find details on the Dig In website. If you want to buy seeds instead, I’d recommend visiting your local independent garden centre where there will be plenty of people who can offer advice. Good luck. Happy growing.
Hi, I found your website looking for urban self reliance. You’ve got a lot of great stuff that I’ve been reading and trying to put to use, especially the chickens, but I was wondering, do you save seeds?
