Chilli scoots

I’d more or less given up on the chillis doing anything this year. I planted them up at the same time as the tomatoes and for weeks they’ve been doing nothing.

Now, though, thanks to the magic of the greenhouse heater, they’ve suddenly sprung into life, and almost all of the little cardboard sticks on which the seeds were mounted now sit beside a healthy green shoot.

To be honest, I’m quite surprised that they’re doing anything as the seeds have been sitting on the kitchen windowsill, exposed to the damp of cooking and the heat of the direct sun for almost two years so their chances of producing anything at all were slim at best.

Clearly chillis are as hardy as they are hot.
