Has anyone ever grown sweet potatoes in a container? We just harvested ours (planted rather late in the year) and the largest are roughly carrot-sized.
What do you think - are they still going to be edible?

Hi there.
We harvested our first sweet potato last week from the allotment. It was about the same size as you suggest, and it tasted fine. Obviously commercially bought sweet potatoes are much larger, so I'm going to let our other slips grow on until late October - early November and hopefully they will swell.
Thanks
Michael.
If they are anything like regular potatoes they'll probably be fine. We've harvested potatoes at all stages of growing, from when they have just finished flowering to after they've been in the soil for well over a year and they have all been yummy.
Well we peeled and boiled them, even the tiny tiny ones, and made them into puree for our 8-month old. She absolutely loved it! And it tasted fine to me too. Hope yours get nice and big Michael.
We shall be digging for the sweet potato this Sunday. I will let you know how we get on. Hopefully it will be a bumper harvest! We have 2x 7 month twins to feed, so hopefully they will enjoy them as much as your daughter did.
Thanks
Michael.
