I live in a housing development in a village. I always say I "am one house away from the countryside" as we have farm fields starting at the end of our cul-de-sac.
Over the past year of so I have felt the next progression after keeping hens is to keep bees, but any established beekeeper I have met at fairs or shows have given me a sympathetic "Oh well" when I mention living in a development.
And then comes along the Beehaus and Omlet very definitely pushing these to hobbyists with a garden and I am starting to think that perhaps I COULD keep bees in the garden.
Nik's post about this mentions that you wouldn't really notice many more bees in your own garden as they will fly up to 3 miles away. How true is this and how silly is it of me to even think about starting up with bees? What do I have to think about - extra insurance? Someone jokingly said "They can't prove it was one of your bees that stung a child .. "
Anyone have any thoughts?
